The studio offers introductory classes in glassblowing, which are designed to teach basic techniques under the guidance of a qualified glassmaker. Previous experience is not necessary.

“You’ll be amazed at what you can achieve in one day. The emphasis of the day is to provide a hands-on experience. We cover all the basics – gathering the molten glass, blowing, shaping and forming. Through demonstration and close supervision, you will quickly acquire a basic understanding of the properties of glass and gain the confidence to manipulate the material in a variety of ways. Students are always delighted when they return to collect the five or six pieces they have created during the day.” Louis Thompson, Glass Artist and Tutor.

Classes last the whole day, from 10am to 1pm and then again from 2pm to 5pm. Only four students are enrolled for two experienced tutors, so instruction is intensive and, by all accounts, very enjoyable. The cost is £400.00 inc. VAT and includes tuition and materials. Early booking is recommended due to the popularity of the classes. We offer vouchers for classes to be given as gifts.
