Associate Artists
London Glassblowing has played a major role in the development of studio glass in the UK, leading the move from factory dominated production to individually created glass art by artists and craftsmen. A great advocate of collaborative working, Peter Layton has over the years acted as a mentor - training and cooperating with many glassmakers, and enjoying their creative involvement within the studio. Each maker brings an appealing freshness to the studio environment and a particular artistic sensibility to the work. Many have set up their own workshops and become established glass artists in their own right.
Peter is very proud of his current team: Louis Thompson, selected Jerwood Maker and Glass Sellers’ award winner 2012; Layne Rowe selected glass artist in the Crafts Council touring show 2012(Breathing Space); Bruce Marks with his strong African influences; Jochen Ott and Anthony Scala who both make intricate sculptural pieces with extensive use of cutting and polishing; Cathryn Shilling, our gallery curator; and our newcomer, Timothy Rawlinson.
