Antarctic Confluence

£3,750.00

Cathryn is best known for her trademark pieces which utilises the traditional Venetian glass cane technique. The canes are created by drawing molten glass into fine threads of no more than one or two millimetres in diameter. For Antarctic Confluence Cathryn has compiled hundreds of fine cane in multiple layers, these are then fired in the kiln then re-fired and manipulated through a process of bending to become a three-dimensional artwork. The strands are then fused together in the kiln then re-fired and manipulated through a process of bending to become a three-dimensional artwork. The vibrant surfaces of her piece evokes a sense of movement, exploiting texture, light and colour.
